Crowns and Bridges
Durable solutions to restore and strengthen damaged or missing teeth.
What is a Crown?
Think of a crown as a hard hat that sits on top of a tooth. This is different from crowns, which typically cover the entirety of the tooth.
What Are Crowns Made of?
Crowns can be made of different materials that vary in durability and appearance. Here is a list of some common materials we use for crowns:
MATERIAL | COLOR | ESTHETICS | DURABILITY |
---|---|---|---|
E.max (ceramic) | White | Great | Good |
Zirconia | White | Good | Great |
Porcelain / Metal | Mostly White | Fair | Good |
Gold | Gold | Poor | Great |
4 Reasons You May Need a Crown
Weakened Teeth – has existing large fillings leaving little natural tooth left
Root Canaled Teeth – helps seal and prevent tooth from fracturing after the root canal
Chipped or Damaged Teeth
Aesthetics – can mask discolored, misshapen, or misaligned teeth
What is a Bridge?
A bridge is essentially a method by which we “bridge” the gap between two teeth to replace one or more missing teeth that have been lost.
We place crowns on the two adjacent teeth and the crowns are fused to one or more prosthetic teeth in the middle to functionally restore your smile. A bridge is not meant to be removed once it is cemented in place.
Reasons You May Want a Bridge
You are missing one or more teeth in between two strong adjacent teeth
You need to restore missing teeth to regain chewing function, speech, and an aesthetic smile
Implants are contraindicated for you
