At Glenbrook Dental, our philosophy is that prevention is always better than reactive treatment. We want to help you achieve and maintain a healthy mouth to avoid having to undergo major restorative treatment.
Regular hygiene visits are vital to your oral health
Visiting with our hygienists to have regular cleanings is extremely important in maintaining a healthy mouth. These cleanings are important in reducing the bacteria that builds up on your tooth surfaces above and more importantly below your gums.
Without this preventative treatment you are at risk of developing gingivitis (painful inflammation and bleeding of the gums) which, if left untreated, can lead to periodontal disease (a deterioration of the gums and supporting bone).
Our empathetic and skilled hygienists are keen to help you on your journey to healthy teeth.
Besides the cleanings and regular check-ups there are other therapies that also aid in cavity prevention as well:
- Pit and fissure sealants: a flowable filling material is used to seal up the deep grooves that some teeth naturally possess. This is to block out bacteria from penetrating into the tooth through these deep grooves and prevent cavity formation!
- Fluoride varnish: Fluoride varnish is applied to help strengthen the enamel thereby helping in the prevention of cavity formation.
